The Meraki Journal
Every piece of gemstone jewellery starts long before it is worn.
Where the Story Begins
Its first chapter is written beneath the earth, where a natural stone forms slowly over time. Later, that stone is found, cut, and given to people who see its potential. Curious how we know our stones are the real thing? Read how to know your gemstones and pearls are natural.
Chapter twoLetting the Stone Lead
When I look at a gemstone, I notice its colour, shape, and small details. Some stones have patterns; others catch the light in a way that makes you look twice. These features help guide the design. I like to let the stone lead the way and think about how to bring out its character.
Turning an Idea into Jewellery
Then comes the thoughtful work of turning an idea into a piece of jewellery. The stone must sit comfortably with the silver and with the other elements in the design, and the shape of the stone matters. Small choices matter too: how the stone will hang, how the colours will come together, and how the finished piece will feel when worn. Have a stone or design in mind? We also create custom jewellery made just for you.
Chapter fourMade by Skilled Hands
As the design takes shape, skilled hands bring the materials together. Details must be handled with care, and adjustments are made along the way. Each piece has its own needs, because every natural gemstone is a little different.
A New Chapter Begins
Finally, the jewellery is ready to leave the worktable and begin a new chapter with the person who chooses it. It might become a gift, a reminder of a meaningful moment for someone, or simply a piece that feels like you. Looking for something to gift? Browse our necklace sets, earrings, and rings.
At Style of Meraki, I hope every piece carries a little of that story, and that the wearer finds a story of their own in that jewellery.
